Attorneys
Catherine A. Chan, JD/MA
Catherine consults regularly for local non-profit agencies, churches and international consulates in presenting immigration-related information to the community. She demonstrates her commitment to the community through publications and involvement in pro bono efforts and legal clinics.
She has successfully represented clients from all over the world before the Colorado Supreme Court, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the U.S. District Court, and various international consulates.
Catherine litigates difficult cases for her clients in the context of asylum, deportation defense and naturalization. In her civil cases, she negotiates large settlements for clients in employment law matters and in sub-contractor cases against general contractors.
Catherine Chan is the Managing Attorney at the Chan Law Firm. Her practice focuses on complex removal (deportation) cases, appellate immigration litigation, civil litigation against government agencies in immigration, and business immigration.
Catherine is a second-generation immigrant to the United States. She is Chinese, Filipina, and Iranian. She has lived and studied in Iran, Spain, and the United States. She is fluent in Farsi and Spanish, in addition to English.
Catherine counts as a distinct life honor the fact that she is trusted with matters of great importance to the individuals, families, non-profit organizations, and corporations she serves. She is determined in her quest to find solutions to complex immigration questions, and she has resolved many “impossible” cases in her clients’ favor.
Catherine has litigated immigration cases at every state and federal court and administrative agency level in the state of Colorado. She has also represented clients across the United States before USCIS and immigration courts, and internationally before American consulates abroad. Catherine has testified as an expert in immigration matters in state and federal court in Colorado. She has taught immigration law classes to the community and to attorneys. She has been published on professionalism issues and immigration law. She is licensed in the State of Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
As counsel to the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition she worked at the Colorado state capitol testifying on immigration-related legislation and proposing text and amendments for the legislation. She has served the boards and commissions of many Colorado organizations, including the Denver Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the Faculty of Federal Advocates, the Colorado Lawyer’s Committee, the Center for Legal Inclusiveness, and the Denver Women’s Commission, among others. Through her community activism and individual cases, she has fulfilled the Colorado Supreme Court’s Pledge to Pro Bono service for over a decade.
For her dedication to her field and community, Catherine has been repeatedly recognized by Law Week Colorado, Super Lawyers and 5280 Magazine. Of special importance to her, her law practice has led to the enjoyment of many friendships with her peers, her clients, and her colleagues.

Adriana Guadana-Huizar
Adriana graduated college in May of 2021 as a first-generation student. A proud daughter of two Mexican immigrants, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Anthropology. Adriana interned with the Chan Law Firm in 2019, and upon graduation joined the team.
Her passion for immigration came from her family’s personal challenges within the immigration system. She vividly remembers the long, systemic hurdles of filling out immigration paperwork: particularly the language barriers, economic challenges, and sheer lack of understanding of the process.
She hopes to one day become an immigration attorney and help families like hers be able to understand and obtain immigration relief. She keeps the stories shared with her close to her heart, and fully believes it is these stories that are her drive and fuel to continue to advocate.
Miriam Arevalo
Miriam graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in May 2022 as a first-generation student. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Ethnic Studies. She was born and raised in Denver, CO, and is the proud daughter of two Mexican immigrants. She enjoys working in a multicultural, multilingual environment. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has a background in French. She also enjoys traveling and learning about cultures and people.
Her passion and interest in immigration law began through her parents. She experienced firsthand the challenges and struggles that her family faced after taking the leap of faith of immigrating to the U.S. in search of the American dream. Despite these challenges, Miriam hopes to continue to aid and advocate for migrants and families as she does her own and is dedicated to the immigration field and the immigrant community.
Firm Administration
Carolina Covo
Carolina Covo is an Accounting Manager at the Chan Law Firm.
Carolina was born in Cartagena, Colombia, South America. She has lived in the United States for over 17 years. Carolina joined Chan Law Firm on January 4th 2016, as a paralegal. Her attention to detail and own personal experience with immigration, Carolina, strives to serve clients needs towards obtaining their personal goals in this country.
She is a Business Administration major with emphasis in Finance, fluent in both English and Spanish. Her experience working in a multicultural environment from previous positions and the upbringing in a hardworking family in Colombia shaped her professional culture where Respect, Integrity and Stewardship are key fundamentals.
Married and mother of two beautiful daughters, Carolina loves nature, animals and the simple things in life. She enjoys spending time with her family outdoors and exercising in the beautiful Colorado landscape.
Maria Flores
Maria Flores is an Executive Administrative Assistant at the Chan Law Firm.
Maria Flores came to the Chan Law Firm in June 2014. Maria is a native Spanish speaker and she is also fluent in English.
Maria is originally from Mexico. Maria immigrated to the United States as a child and she is a naturalized United States citizen. From personal experience she encountered the many adversities immigrants face in this country, which inspired her to work within the legal immigration realm to help her community.
She loves to spend quality time with her family. She grew up in New Mexico. She enjoys helping others, takes pride in her work and being a part of the team here at Chan Law Firm.
Edith Gallegos Andrade
Edith is a receptionist at the Chan Law Firm.
Edith is a first-generation Mexican-American. She was born in Colorado, but she has lived in Aguascalientes, Mexico intermittently. Edith is fluent in both Spanish and English. She uses her language and communication skills to assist people in navigating their immigration process at the Chan Law Firm, PC. Edith prides herself in her organizational skills, she ensures tasks are completed efficiently and, she has a warm welcome for those she serves. Edith is also a cosmetologist, she graduated from Pueblo Community College in May 2019. In her free time, Edith enjoys freelancing as a make up artist, cooking, and spending time with her daughter.
